ATHENS — The chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, on Thursday expressed complete satisfaction with the demonstration of the capabilities of the special operations forces of the armed forces of Greece, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which took place in Megalo Pefko, as part of the "Hercules" exercise.
He described the demonstration as indicative of the potential of the participating countries, which "ensure peace and security" in the wider Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East region.
He stressed that the exercise took place "under relatively adverse weather conditions", while noting that the Armed Forces "send a message of reconciliation and stability."
On his part, Deputy Defence Minister Nikos Hardalias congratulated all those who participated in the exercise, while noting: "We watched a special demonstration under extremely difficult conditions."
"The Armed Forces," he added, "have shown that they are on full alert. Through these proceedings, the role of our country in the wider region is highlighted. We are sending a clear message of strength and unity from all the personnel of the Armed Forces."
